Daniel Keck, of West
Salem, and long a well known citizen of that township, died on Sabbath
last, aged 71 years, 7 months and 21 days. Deceased was the oldest son
of Jacob Keck, one of the early settlers of this neighborhood. He spent
his entire life in the township in which he was born. He was a quiet,
upright citizen, and stood well among his neighbors. He leaves two sons
and three daughters. Of his father's family, two brothers, Isaac, of
this place and Jacob who went to California in 1850, survive him. Three
sisters also survive him, viz: Mrs. J. Ross McLean, Mrs. Henry Hum, and
Mrs. Reuben George.
The funeral took place on Tuesday, Rev. G. W. Brown, officiating. The remains were deposited in Good Hope Cemetery.
