Pine
School was located at the No. Five Mine in Springfield
Township. The first school, a frame building, was destroyed by fire in
1932. It is believed that the fire was caused by an overheated
furnace. The frame building was replaced with two side-by-side
buildings, one a two-room schoolhouse and the other a kindergarten. Grace
Nelson and Ebba L. Widing taught at
the school. Edna Winger was a
kindergarten teacher there.
